Louis Vuitton PM Agenda & Happy Mail

Happy mail at it's finest. Recently I had to get my hands on some limited edition "things." I mean lets be real, "things" are always better when they are limited edition. So, with that being said, I managed to get my hands on the LE Harajuku 2 Tsum Tsum set and of course my very first Louis Vuitton agenda PM size, which is similar to the Filofax pocket planner.  With the exception of the R2D2 and Shelly Mae, which aren't limited edition, they just needed to be apart of my Tsum Tsum collection, so don't mind them.

Let's move on to the point of this post and thats to introduce to you my very first Louis Vuitton PM agenda. Not only is it my first agenda from LV, but of course in leu of limited editions, I searched high and low for the 2007 Trunks and Bags PM agenda edition. I absolutely love the look of the screen print of the different texts of countries, and really thats what caught my eye to this agenda. I could have just gotten the basic LV monogram agenda, but again, I'm no "basic bitch" for lack of a better word haha, and I wanted to be just a tad bit different than everyone else. I am very pleased with this purchase and plan to use it as a wallet as well. This one mark my very first pocket agenda, since I am used to using personal size and A5/large size.

The interior is of a tan color with gold hardware. Currently I am trying to set it up for planner use. I managed to make my own dashboard and it turned out so well. I am currently waiting on my inserts to come, as I have ordered them from an etsy seller. I will save the LV PM agenda set up for another post, but I did want to show you all what I managed to do to it so far. With Spring in season, it was only fitting to go with a floral print.

Until next time!

XOXO,
Melissa May

Happy Post V-Day!

Happy Post Valentines Day to everyone. Currently I am in my A5 Large Lilac Kikki-K with mini gold diamonds on the front. This planner was my very first leather, ring bound planner when I was first getting into the planner world. A year ago this month I purchased this beauty and it still brings me such joy when I use it. My dashboard currently is something I made. I took a multi-color heart print card stock paper, cut it down to size, laminated it and punched holes and voila! a DIY dashboard for my planner. The Minnie and Mickey image is actually from the Disney Gallery at Downtown Disney, and it's actually a postcard that I also laminated so that it last's quite some time. Add a bit of washi tape and that's that.... my Valentine dashboard.

I hope everyone had a sweet Valentine weekend, I know I did. Until next time!

XOXO,
Melissa May

Planner Pouch Love

I recently received a gift from one of my planner besties and it was this amazingly structured planner pouch from Nena Paz Luv shop on etsy (NenaPazLuv.etsy.com). It fits my Cobalt blue personal size Kikki K just perfectly.

The outer fabric is that I received is this adorable Hello Kitty doctor print and the interior is the pink and white polka dot, the same with the front pockets. The zipper is a lavender color, which ties the color scheme together perfectly. The inner pouch can hold my personal size planner, a couple of pens/markers along with 3 washi tapes perfectly. The pouch has 4 front pockets which can hold paperclips, stickers amongst many other thin planner trinkets.

As I mentioned before, the planner pouch is well structured and has a interior interfacing fabric that allows the pouch to keep its structure without being flimsy when it is empty, which is detail that I definitely appreciate in an item. I always try and ask myself; is this item cute, is it well structured, and is it functional? And the answer is YES! This planner pouch hits all those high points with me. Thank you to my planner bestie Bethany for introducing me to this adorable and functional pouch. I look forward to purchasing one for my A5 Large Kikki K planners. Nena has many fabric prints to choose from and always welcomes custom orders. Until next time...

Marion Smith Designs A5 Planner Binder Review

I recently received my Marion Smith Designs A5 Planner Binders in the mail a few days ago, and mind you, I had previously pre-ordered them back in September, so it took quite a few weeks and then some for them to arrive. Nonetheless, they are here. I must say, though they look much better in pictures. When I first pre-ordered them they were on retail for $59.99 each+ tax and shipping expenses. When I recently went to the Marion Smith website, I saw they were sold out and that they were selling for $69.99. Lucky for me I purchased them when they were still $59.99.

Here are the specs as stated on the (www.MarionSmithDesigns.com) Marion Smith website:

A5 Planner in Luscious Pink: "This planner binder is A5 with heavy duty saffiano vegan leather. Animal cruelty free plant based polyurethane material. It has gold foil heart pattern on the inside with gold 3.5cm rings. It has seven pockets and extra long strap closure so you can bulk up your planner more than ever before. This listing does not include inserts."

A5 Planner in Luxury Gold: This planner binder is A5 with heavy duty saffiano vegan leather. Animal cruelty free plant based polyurethane material. It is extremely shiny like gold foil. It has gold foil heart pattern on the inside with gold 3.5cm rings. It has seven pockets and extra long strap closure so you can bulk up your planner more than ever before. This listing does not include inserts.

As you can see, both binders have the same interior. Having the cute gold foil hearts. As well as having a great amount of different sizes of pockets on the interior, 7 pockets to be exact. Each Binder has lovely gold hardware, the rings measure up to 3.5cm, leaving for ample amount of space for inserts and extra notes to be added into the binder.

Both binders also include a pen loop and an extended strap, button closure. This will allow the user to be able to "bulk" up the planner adding yearly/monthly inserts, as well as stickers, added note loose paper and many other planner accessories.

Here is a close-up of the interior gold foiled hearts. As you can see, after much love and usage they may have the potential to rub off eventually, but hey lets face it, that means you've been using your planner A LOT, and thats never a bad thing =)

As you can see from the interior, Marion has her signature logo and name embossed as well as on the bottom of the exterior spine of the binder as seen below.

Here is a great picture of the close up of the saffiano texture she talks about in the specs listed in the beginning of this post. It has sort of a criss-cross texture effect, which I have seen in many popular purses these days. Might I add, I absolutely love this textured design, as some may appreciate it, like myself, some other's won't, but thats ok, we can't please everyone. This texture is also reminiscent of the Filofax saffiano planners. Being a vegan leather, Marion did a great job with the saffiano texture, and it offers something different in the "planner world".

The Cons:
  • The price ($59.99 pre-order price/ $69.99 retail); this is very important and is a make it or break it deal for most people. Having no yearly/monthly inserts or dividers included with this planner's price can be quite disappointing for some adding an extra expense of having to purchase those inserts separately.
  • The quality of the interior is lacking, and does not offer that high quality feel that some may be searching for with the price of the planner.
  • The gold foiled heart design on the interior has potential to rub off with much use.
  • Personal experience for pre-order: It took quite awhile for the items to arrive and ship out to buyers. The expected shipping date was pushed back almost 2 weeks.
The Pros:
  • The color selection was spot on. The pink was just a perfect pink, not too light and not too dark. What girls doesn't love pink? The combination of the luscious pink with gold accents was brilliantly executed. As for the gold, it was definitely shiny, and with that being said it made the look of the exterior planner look "grandeur" I mean it is called Luxury Gold.
  • The saffiano texture was a great addition to Marion Smiths planner line. It offers something different to the consumers.
  • The binder rings are much bigger this time around compared to the first edition Aqua planner that she released, from what I heard. They measure 3.5 cm.
  • The planner offers plenty of space and offers 7 different sizes of pockets from the front and back of the planner.
  • I couldn't forget about the cute gold heart pattern on the interior.

Now for my opinion on the Marion Smith Planner Binders. This was my first time purchasing, as well as first time owning a Marion Smith Planner. When I first purchased them back in September, I was excited and in love with the color selection that she came out with. The expected shipping date was October 31, 2015 for the gold and pink planners. So naturally, I didn't think too much of them during October, but as October passed and November came, news from Marion stated that planners were delayed and that would also effect the shipping time, I'll be honest, that really disappointed me. I understand the production of the items is out of Marion's hands, I don't blame her at all, but as an avid "planner collector" I wanted the planners ASAP as any "planner collector" would, right? At some point, prior to receiving the planners, I almost didn't want them anymore because I was waiting so long for them. Nonetheless they came 2 days ago November 20, 2015 to be exact. As I opened the box and found the planners I was over joyed. The exteriors of the planners were gorgeous, I actually loved the pink more than the gold, when I initially pre-ordered them I actually liked the gold more than the pink. Having them both in hand the gold was just too shiny for me. Everything was great, until I opened the binders. The feel of the interior was lacking for me. I felt that the quality for the price just wasn't there and found myself even more disappointed in the items. Now I understand that they aren't made of real leather, but the material with the gold foiled hearts just seemed/felt "low-grade" for lack of a better word. You can feel the cardboard structure more on the interior. In addition the planner binders did not come with inserts or dividers and as stated on her website they were "Binder Only." To sum it up, for the price I paid $59.99(pre-order)+tax ($69.99 retail) I felt like the quality of the product wasn't there for me. Being an owner of a Kikki K A5 planner, I was left sad, and disappointed. Yes I understand, the Kikki K is made with real leather so of course it feels much better, but I also got it for the same amount ($50-$60 this price was earlier this year) and the Kikki K came with inserts for the year and dividers as well. So was it a "hit" or a "miss"? It was a huge miss for me, unfortunately.

Melissa May

MAMBI The Happy Planner Review

I finally got my hands on one of the most talked about, affordable planners on the market right now which is MAMBI's new create 365 Happy Planner. The planner I received begins on July 2015 and ends on December 2016. The one I will be reviewing for you today is the most recent update of the planner. There has been some minor changes made to the happy planner from the first batch that was released earlier this year. One being the monthly tabs that were not always laminated to begin with, which was a concern for many who purchased the first generation of the planners that were released in the beginning of this year. The version that I received, which is an updated version, the monthly tabs are now laminated and adds an extra protection to the tabs for those who bring their planners around with them everywhere. Since I did not own a first generation happy planner for myself, it's difficult for me to compare the two. I instead will just review the one I currently have, which I received in August 2015.

The specs straight from the meandmybigideas.com website:
Create 365™ - The Happy Planner™ is an expandable, disc-bound planner system that combines your love for creativity with your need for organization.
Each 18 month planner features a unique layout with monthly and weekly views.
This planner is dated from July 2015 - December 2016 and is filled with creative and inspirational artwork to help make YOU a happy planner!
Planner dimensions:
Covers - 7.75” x 9.75”
Pages - 7” x 9.25”
Front and Back cover is thick and also laminated to protect the inside of the planner. Downside to this specific design with the black front and back cover is that it shows fingerprints on the covers which can be annoying to some.

The Happy Planner is filled with cute colors, prints and motivational quotes.

Monthly side tabs are laminated for added protection against the "harsh world"

Each Monthly tab has a different design and color scheme. In addition, There is a page for specific monthly goals, events, important dates, monthly birthdays as well as a "don't forget" section. I appreciate this section, that most planners don't offer because it sums up each months events and goals, if any.

The monthly view comes in varies color schemes, but nothing too dramatic. For example, for the month of October, the month and year are in a red/orange color and the weekend (Saturday and Sunday boxes are in a light pink, making it a simple laying with a touch of color. The layout of the monthly views give much leeway to creativity with stickers and washi tape's just to name a few.

Compared to the Erin Condren Life Planner, the happy planner's paper thickness is much better quality than that of the ECLP. I currently use Pilot G2 pens as well as the Flair med. pens and I do not have trouble with them bleeding through the paper. I would choose the happy planner paper quality over the ECLP (Erin Condren), in my opinion. Just like the monthly view, the color scheme from the month carries on to the weekly view. Below is the color scheme for January 2016 and as you can see the "quotes" also show up on SOME weekly views. Just like the Erin Condren there is a left side notes portion along with the monthly view on the upper left hand corner for "easy viewing access."
The Cons:
  • It uses an ARC system with discs instead of a spiral bound system which can come off as a concern to some because of the actual durability and stability of the planner itself. I have not yet had any problems with the ARC system since I have started using it in the beginning of September 2015. It has been sturdy and has not fallen apart and the pages have stayed in its place.
  • It does not come with a plastic storage case or folder in the back of the planner like some other planners I have seen, for example the ECLP has a plastic storage and this is great for keeping stickers, project life cards or bookmarks especially for a person who is constantly "on-the-go."
  • There is inconsistencies with the monthly and weekly view. The monthly is a Sunday-Saturday format and the weekly is a Monday-Sunday format. This doesn't bother me very much and in fact I like it this way, but some people may not, so I added it to the "cons" list.
  • The pre-set boxes for the weekly view labeled as "morning, afternoon & evening" may work for some people but not everyone uses a "timeline" to plan out their days. The headers can easily be covered with washi tape, or planner stickers that you can buy specifically for your happy planner (Etsy.com offers a wide variety of stickers), and even MAMBI has happy planner stickers. It would be easier if they were left blank in order to accommodate for a wider range of people's preferences.
The Pros:
  • The easy removable pages make it a breeze to customize and decorate the monthly and weekly pages. Just like a binder system, the happy planner pages are easy to take out and put right on back to the ARC discs, which is effortless. Also if you plan on using the Happy Planner as inserts for a binder planner, for example a large A5 Filofax or large Kikki K, it is easy to take out the pages, cut off the edge where it inserts into the disc bound system and punch new holes. Unlike uncoiling a spiral bound planner system (ECLP, Day designer or Ban.do), it's as easy as 1-2-3!
  • The laminated front and back cover are changeable. MAMBI offers interchangeable front and back covers for your Happy Planner at your local Hobby Lobby or even Michaels craft store. There are also many beautiful designs on etsy.com
  • Since the planner is on an ARC disc system, the planner can fold back on itself, just like a spiral planner/notebook, making it easy to write in your plans on each day.
  • The monthly/weekly color schemes are easier to work with, are simple and can easily be decorated, as I have stated above.
My overall thoughts on this planner is that it is a great planner for the price and it indeed outshines many planners currently on the market for a much better price. The MAMBI Happy planner currently retails for $24.99 on the meandmybigideas.com website. If online buying isn't for you (probably because shipping sucks), you can find the Happy Planner at your local Hobby Lobby store and select Michaels craft stores for the same retail price. The upside to buying the planner at Hobby Lobby or Michael's is that there is always a coupon you can use for it. Hobby Lobby offers a 40% off coupon on any one reg. priced item all the time and Michael's has a coupon as well. Check their websites to print out a coupon now.  Until next time!
